At Columbine Hills Elementary School
Bring your trash to the Columbine Hills Elementary School parking lot! We’ll have roll-off dumpsters and metal recycling services available.
Xeric Garden Gathering
Getting Our Hands Dirty – And ❤️ It!
On the morning of Saturday, May 17th, 2025, a group of neighbors gathered to pull weeds, prune overgrowth, and help maintain the beautiful Columbine Hills Xeric Garden. It was a great turnout — around 20 people, including kids and even a few dogs, came out to show their support!
The morning was filled with connection, shared knowledge, and a few laughs. (There were quite a few “I-don’t-know” plants — the unofficial plant of the day!) A big thank you to Angela, Jane, and Janet for generously sharing their expertise and helping guide the group.
Keep an eye out — CHCA will be sharing the story behind the Xeric Garden soon.

Meet Your CHCA Board Member
Each month we will introduce one member of the CHCA board so you can get to know us and recognize us when we meet.
Hi. I am David Wiese, and I have served as co-treasurer of CHCA for four years. I moved to Columbine Hills in 1984 and bought the house we still call home. I have been working on it ever since! Colorado remains the perfect location for me; it was close to work and close to the mountains.
Like many others in Columbine Hills, I worked at Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin), putting in lots of hours and working a variety of interesting projects over the years. That background brought me to Air Methods, an emergency helicopter company serving Flight for Life, Airlife, and other rescue flight programs across the U.S. I enjoyed working around all kinds of aircraft. And from when I started in 1997, the company grew from supporting 30 aircraft to over 500.
Now I am retired and I seem to be as busy as ever. My wife Galen and I are very active in the Sharing with Sheridan Food Pantry. And I remain very busy with home projects, camping, golfing, gardening, travelling, and skiing. I am always available to help a neighbor who needs me.
I am grateful to be an active member of CHCA. It has been a great way to meet new friends and support our community.
